Building Code Basics is provided as an introduction to the use of building codes in general, to inform contractors, sub trades, designers and supporting industry.

The guide covers the BASICS of why the Canadian National Building Code and its provincial counterparts exist, how to use the code when finding information and what information specifically is contained in the different chapters.

While this module focuses primarily on Part 9 residential construction, explanations are also provided on where to find information for Part 3 Institutional, Commercial and Industrial (ICI) buildings, along with electrical, plumbing, fire and farm buildings.
