Moving the air barrier application to the exterior of the building may provide a bit more ease in navigating intersecting surfaces and framing.
What is the main purpose of an exterior air barrier application?
Ease of installation over longer and broader expanses
Easier to make continuous (can see penetrations from outside)
May cut down on wind-washing
Important Considerations for Exterior Air Barrier Installations:
Must be protected from weather (wind and sun) after installation - cover with exterior cladding protective layer as soon as possible.
Weather can make difficult installation - temperature, rain, wind, ice.
Make plans to include scaffold or lift trucks if the building has upper storeys.
