Construction workers can play a part in reducing energy requirements for heating and cooling buildings, mostly through applying the fundamentals of building science.

There are THREE main elements to consider when applying building science to a construction or retrofit project:

HEAT, AIR and MOISTURE.

Practicing building science in construction is simply the management of those three elements in a building, which we do with the materials and assemblies we create. In other words, properly and carefully installed:

• Insulation,
• Air barriers,
• Doors and windows,
• Tapes, sealants and gaskets

With the addition of mechanical systems (HVAC and fresh air machines), we can maintain comfortable conditions inside our buildings all year long, no matter what's happening outside.
