Moisture Movement in Buildings

LISTEN...

The two main types of moisture present in our buildings are VAPOUR (as a gas) and BULK WATER (as a liquid).

Moisture will ALWAYS move from WET to DRY and from HIGH PRESSURE to LOW PRESSURE.

We manage the movement of moisture in buildings by using materials like vapour barriers and retarders, and with flashing and membranes that are water resistant.

Flashing over windows and positive overlaps on finish layers help to shed bulk water down and away from a building. New development in Eastern, Ontario.
